I too was in this position, an older Mum with teenage boys, who didn’t really lose the “baby fat”, who has now hit the Over 40 age when everything seems to head downwards!

Fitness and exercise seem to take second place to just getting through the day with enough food to feed the family, do the ironing and cooking and eventually fall into bed exhausted - only to rinse and repeat again the next day. Quality of life ebbs slowly away.

Enough was enough! I was determined to do something about it, but felt I needed something different. I knew I didn’t want a “crash and burn” diet. I needed a fitness plan I could stick to and one that wasn’t going to tie me up in hours of dedicated workouts per week. At the end of the day I wanted to feel energetic and healthy, able to keep up with my athletic children, not be relegated to the grandparent-before-my-time!

A search online soon had me looking at men’s six-pack bodies through fitness and meal plans that read like a body builders guide to the best competition muscles! This was definitely not me!

Thankfully I came across this weight loss program that talked about me! A mum who could do with getting in shape, tone up those saggy muscles, lose that weight that just hangs on my body like a soufflé that has risen too much and has collapsed after coming out of the oven. Something I could easily incorporate into my day.

I have just completed two glorious, grand, phenomenal, amazing,
wonderful, beautiful, liberating, magnificent, superb, splendid,

tremendous weeks of the Summer Transformation Challenge.

Me….I did it. ME!!!!!!

It’s almost hard to believe.

Me…..the girl who’s never stuck with ANYTHING longer than a few
days, and the girl who didn’t want to post her before pictures, has
two ridiculously amazing weeks under her belt….and can now
finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s not shining
brightly yet but I know it’s there….and I’m on my way!!

I can’t even begin to explain how different I feel.

I used to be tired ALL the time! I complained that I couldn’t make
dinner, I couldn’t play with kids, and I couldn’t clean the house.
Now….I’m doing those things just because I can, I want to and
they make me happy!!

I used to be bloated and gassy ALL the time! I used to complain
about IBS. Turns out crappy food equals a crappy feeling, plain and
simple (for me)!!! Good food gives me energy, positive feelings,
and a brighter outlook.

I’m wearing tank tops!!!!!

I watched an hour of TV tonight and it felt like the longest hour
of my life!!! I don’t know that I care to waste my precious time
watching someone else’s idea of life. I would much rather be
participating in my own.

I’m saying NO to crappy food and YES to exercise, fresh veggies,
and cold water.

I’m happier, more alive, more confident and much more able to face
each and every day!!!!!

Have I lost any weight? I have no idea.

Have I lost inches? I have no idea.

Are my clothes fitting better? Not really.

So for me to recognize and embrace a FEELING, without a concrete
number is a huge step for me!!!

And YES, YES, YES……this has all happened in just two weeks!!!!!

I still have a very long way to go.
~I am not content to weigh 200+ pounds.
~I am not content to sit on the sidelines of life anymore.
~ I am not content to just be.
~ I am not content to live as I have lived for so long!

I am ready to live with meaning, purpose, energy and life!!!!!!!!!!

And if I can do this, anyone can do this!

How do you get success with your weight loss program?  Make sure you have a great support system!  Many women find that when they tell their loved ones that they are going on a diet, they don’t always get the best support that they are asking for and they need in order to keep up the momentum of those first few days and weeks.

Weight loss Results in Skinny Jeans Not On Scales

Weight Loss Results - what you are after!

How do You measure results?

Use the bathroom scale?
Once, twice, five times a day - holding your breath and tightly
closing your eyes each time you step on, hoping and praying that darn number
will go down!?

Well, did you know it is best - when you begin a fat loss program -
to avoid the scale?

Scales only tell the TOTAL of your body’s mass, lean and fat.

The scale cannot separate the muscles, bones, blood and organs from
fat. The separation of lean mass and fat mass is called body
composition: (the ratio determines your body fat percentage).

This form of measurement offers more accurate information that
relates to what you REALLY want to achieve - so if you are able to - get
your body fat tested.

Focusing on this number can cause problems because you have no way
of knowing how much of that number is fat and how much is the rest
of you.

The best way to judge your success and measure your Results….
pay attention to your energy levels and the way your clothes fit.

If you think about it, your clothes are the first indicator of
weight gain, so look to the same source for progress.

I typically do not weight my clients until the 4th -6th week. Then
that number is used along with body fat and inches AND an
evaluation of mood, energy levels, strength, health concerns…to
determine progress.

Yes your weight con fluctuate if you sneak a peek before then - my
weight is up by 5 pounds by the end of the day. And it should be
because I have been eating and drinking water all day long.

As long as your clothing fits and you feel great - you are on
track.

Weight Management - 7 Strategies On How To Avoid The Holiday Bulge

Weight management at this time of year tends to go out of the window as we rush around planning and shopping.  Holiday time is upon us!  Along with all the excitement and parties at this time of year, the sneaky feeling of dread crosses many women’s minds as they think about all those mince pies, turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pies!

Have you had that feeling on January 2nd of “I wish I hadn’t had that second helping of ….” Or “I wish I hadn’t drunk all that wine …”

Why not get a head start on your weight management and reduce your stress at this pressured time of year with our 7 weight management strategies to avoid the holiday bulge.

1.  Plan Ahead - Plan ahead of time and take note of your food intake.  This way you can be sure that you are in control of your food, rather than it being in control of you!  Being aware of how much food we are actually eating makes it easier to not eat quite so much. 

2.  Breakfast - Always have a healthy, nutritious breakfast that sets you up for the day, giving you energy and vitality to get through your busy day.  It is the foundation building block of a healthy lifestyle.  Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and supper like a pauper.

3.  Plan indulgences - Of course at holiday time you do not want to be seen as a party pooper who cuts out all the goodies!  There is nothing worse than someone being miserable because they cannot join in!  Feelings of guilt and lack are surefire death to any weight management plans, so factor in some planned indulgences before you start, knowing that you can enjoy your holidays and still maintain your weight loss program.

4.  Control your portion size - Plan to eat smaller portion sizes with protein and produce at each meal.  Fresh vegetables and fruit eaten in their natural state or simply cooked without added butter or sauces can be eaten more frequently.  Try to take the healthy option, knowing that your body with thank you in the New Year.
 
5.  Alcohol intake - Alcohol is turned by our bodies into glucose - empty calories that don’t have any nutritious value at all!  Because glucose is a form of sugar that our bodies use for energy, excess glucose gets stored as fat when it is not used up. Look to drink light beers, champagne and wine spritzers and perhaps alternate alcoholic drinks with glasses of still water.

6.  Eat little and often - I t has been documented that eating 6 small meals per day increases your metabolism.  Metabolism is the mechanism that burns the food you consume.  By eating small meals every 3-4 hours, you are encouraging your body to burn fat rather than store it.

7.  Exercise - I know you are all asking how could you possibly fit in exercise at this time of year when you are already flat out trying to keep up with all the extra tasks you have to do, but if you incorporate short, intensive periods of exercise into your week on a regular basis you will succeed in increasing your metabolism, feeling less stressed and will give you more energy.

8.  I know I can’t count!  One of the best tips I can offer is to get support from friends, family and if you can’t get support offline, find a community that backs you to the hilt online, such as Club FYM.  There is no other support system like it that will have you making new friends, losing the weight you want, toning up your body and mind and having FUN!  Go check it out …
